1. Our Commitment
- Safeguarding is at the heart of all our work.
- We follow the principles of the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018), and Keeping Children Safe in Education (2023).
- All students, regardless of age, gender, disability, culture, or background, have the right to learn in a safe environment.
2. Responsibilities
- Tutor Responsibility: All tutors at LBA Tutoring hold an up-to-date Enhanced DBS Check and are trained in safeguarding awareness.
- Duty of Care: We are responsible for promoting student welfare, identifying potential risks, and reporting concerns promptly.
- Parents/Guardians: Parents are encouraged to remain engaged with their child’s learning and to raise any safeguarding concerns immediately.
3. Online Tutoring Safety
- Online sessions are delivered using secure platforms (e.g. Google Classroom, Zoom).
- Students should access online lessons in a suitable, quiet environment with parental awareness.
- Lessons will not be recorded unless agreed in advance with parents/guardians.
- Tutors and students must dress and behave appropriately during online sessions.
4. Reporting Concerns
- If a safeguarding concern arises, LBA Tutoring will follow statutory guidance and, where necessary, report to the relevant local authority safeguarding team.
- In cases of immediate risk, emergency services will be contacted.
- Confidentiality will be respected, but information may be shared with professionals where required to protect a child.
5. Code of Conduct
Tutors will:
- Always maintain professional boundaries.
- Use respectful, age-appropriate language and behaviour.
- Never meet students in unsupervised, unapproved settings.
- Prioritise student wellbeing above all else.
6. Prevent Duty
LBA Tutoring recognises its responsibility under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 (Prevent Duty) to protect learners from the risk of radicalisation and extremism. Tutors remain vigilant and report concerns in line with safeguarding procedures.
7. Review of Policy
This policy is reviewed annually, or sooner if legislation changes. All tutors are required to remain up to date with UK safeguarding standards.
